As prostate hyperplasia develops, pressure on the urethra (the tube leading urine out of the bladder) and its gradual narrowing develop, which results in numerous unpleasant and disturbing symptoms.<\/p>\n<p>In the initial phases of the disease more frequent urination and urgency to urinate appear..<\/p>\n<p>Later, urination requires effort, the urine stream is weaker, and the need to urinate during the night appears. Increasingly, there is a sense of insufficient voiding, and finally there is also retention, i.e. complete urinary retention. It is recommended in prostatitis for its anti-inflammatory effect on prostate tissue<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">A clinical trial was designed to evaluate the efficacy of African Plum extract in patients suffering from prostate hypertrophy or chronic prostatitis. For 60 days, 18 patients were administered 200 mg of African Plum.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Because of the high association between sexual problems and these two diseases, the study was expanded and sexual functions were also investigated. There were no undesirable effects during treatment. Urinary problems were evaluated based on case history and ultrasound scanning of the prostate. Sexual problems were evaluated based on case history and NPTR monitoring. It was shown that African Plum extract improved all parameters related to the investigation of urinary symptoms, while prostate ultrasound showed a decrease of periurethral edema. Symptoms, in their mildest form, are unpleasant, and severe pain also usually appears.<\/p>\n<p>There are several different causes of prostate inflammation, and sometimes several factors are simultaneously responsible for the onset of inflammation. The most frequent causes are bacterial infections, autoimmune diseases and injuries (neuromuscular or mechanical). Somewhat less frequently, causes can be gout, a prostate stone, narrowing of the urethra, tumors, benign prostate hyperplasia, food allergy, fungal infections, viral infections.<\/p>\n<p>Certain states or medical procedures increase the risk of this disease, e.g. catheter placement, long term abstination from urination, urinary tract infection, urinary tract abnormalities, enlarged prostate, urination disorders, urinary tract injuries, anal sex, uncontrolled sexual activity, frequent masturbation, stress, excessive alcohol consumption.<\/p>\n<p>Symptoms of acute prostate inflammation hane an abrupt onset. Pain in the region of and behind the penis, pain in the lower abdomen and lower back, difficult urination, frequent urination of minor quantities of urine, especially during the night, purulent or bloody discharge from the urethra, fatigue, elevated temperature, can appear. If there is prostate swelling, this additionally hinders urine flow, causing urine retention and urine accumulation in the bladder. The prostate is almost always enlarged.<\/p>\n<p>Chronic inflammation of the prostate means a long term course of the infection and a disease lasting over three weeks. It is characterized by moderate pain under and behind the penis, in the lower back, difficulty to urinate with small quantities of urine, scant bloody or purulent discharge from the urethra. Fatigue, burning, painful ejaculation, and even impotence can appear. The prostate can be enlarged or reduced in size and hard. Quite often the only symptom of chronic prostate inflammation is recurrent bladder infection.<\/p>\n<p>Serious complications include urinary tract infections and complete blockage of the urethra, requiring urgent medical intervention.
